Who We Are
We are a small family foundation committed to investing in and supporting young minds and helping them spread their wings. Our Principals, Reema and Kunal, put their minds together and married their interests, passions and skills to form The Ghosh Foundation. While we are just getting started, we hope to immediately make impact by partnering with organizations serving our youth and sharing our goals.
Reema
I have always been passionate about the well-being of children, and especially girls. Experiencing my youth in Kuwait, India and Canada, I’ve witnessed the struggles of young people in different ways: being immigrant children coping with cultural and racial barriers, experiencing excessive and unhealthy academic pressures, cultural restrictions targeted towards girls, living in unstable or impoverished environments, body-type & skin-color image issues. In addition, today we all know that our youth are overwhelmed with digital and social media. These challenges now hit closer to home, being a mother of two daughters. Growing up and to this day I am continually inspired by my grandma who always helped children in her community in New Delhi. So I asked myself, “What can we do to help?”. That really was the fundamental question that inspired me to leverage my corporate experiences across two decades and channel it into founding The Ghosh Foundation.
Kunal
I have long been involved in the science of the brain, having founded and built Inscopix, a company that developed a platform to map the brain and supported Neuroscience research across the world. I have also been fortunate to be part of both national and global efforts to raise awareness about mental health – arguably the greatest public health crisis of our time. These experiences and perspectives have shaped my belief that while both public and private sector investments in science and innovation will undoubtedly fuel the discoveries and therapies of the future, we have pressing needs today for resources and efforts to help address the mental health crisis at hand. It is this desire to help play a meaningful role in addressing the present – and the needs of today’s children and youth – that has motivated us to launch the Ghosh Foundation.
